* Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said was born on October 13, 1954.

* He became the Sultan of Oman, after succeeding his cousin Sultan Qaboos bin Said on January 11, 2020.

* He previously served as Minister of Heritage and Culture in the Sultanate of Oman.

*He attended Pembroke College, Oxford University.

*In 2016, he personally welcomed Prince Charles on a visit to the country.

* He also held the positions of Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
