* Haitham bin Tariq Al-Said was born on October 13, 1954.

* He became the Sultan of Oman, after succeeding his cousin Sultan Qaboos bin Said on January 11, 2020.

* He previously served as Minister of Heritage and Culture in the Sultanate of Oman.

*He attended Pembroke College, Oxford University.

*He graduated from the Foreign Service Program (FSP) in 1979.

   *He was described as "open-minded and Western-oriented."

   *He has many roles such as:

   He served as the first president of the Omani Football Association in the early 1980s.

   * He served as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.

*He was later appointed Minister of Heritage and Culture in March 2002.

* He chaired the National Census Committee in 2003.

* He usually represents Oman abroad in a diplomatic capacity.

*In 2016, he personally welcomed Prince Charles on a visit to the country.

* He also held the positions of Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

   *In his first public speech, he promised to support the policy of his Omani predecessor.
