إدموند بيرجلر من رواد التحليل النفسي الأمريكيين، ولد في النمسا وتغطي كتبه مواضيع مثل تنمية الطفولة وأزمات منتصف العمر والزواج والمقامرة والسلوكيات الانهزامية و الشذوذ الجنسي. وقد وُصف بأنه من أهم منظري التحليل النفسي للشذوذ الجنسي في خمسينيات القرن العشرين.

نشأته عدل
ولد إدموند بيرجلر في كولوميا (أوكرانيا حاليًا) عام 1899 وفر من الاحتلال النازي لأستراليا عام 1937 إلى مدينة نيويورك،[1][2] حيث عمل في علم التحلليل النفسي. وقد ألف بيرجلر 25 كتابًا في علم النفس إلى جانب 273 مقالاً نشرت في الدوريات النفسانية المرموقة.[3] وكان يشار إليه بأنه "أحد العقول الأصيلة من بين أتباع فرويد".[4]
