I thought you might want to know about an update to this DWIM gadget that I've made. I don't think it can work as currently written. There are some problems with the mapping function and some extra complexities with the Arabic keyboard, which can generate two characters for one keystroke. I think I've addressed most of the problems here. I've tested it and it works on all the test cases I tried.
I see that there is another tool already in place that does DWIM-like mapping from Latin to English, but not in the other direction. Maybe this mapping algorithm can be helpful.
