تقع محافظة البيضاء إلى الجنوب الشرقي للعاصمة صنعاء، وتبعد عنها بحوالي (267)كيلو متر، ويشكل سكان المحافظة ما نسبته (2.9%) من سكان الجمهورية، وعدد مديرياتها (20) مديرية، ومدينة البيضاء مركز المحافظة، وأهم مدنها مدينة رداع. وتعد الزراعة النشاط الرئيس لسكان المحافظة، وتنتج المحافظة ما نسبته (2.6%) من إجمالي المحاصيل الزراعية في الجمهورية، وأهمها الخضروات والمحاصيل النقدية فضلاً عن بعض الصناعات الحرفية والتقليدية، وتضم أراضي المحافظة بعض المعادن من أهمها الحديد، التيتانيوم، رمل الزجاج والسيلكا.
