صِيغت المطرقة على يد أقزامٍ، ولم تخذل [[ثور (ميثولوجيا)|ثور]] مُذ أنِ استعملها. وقاتل بها وحطّم رؤوس [[يوتون|العمالقة]] واستخدمها كأداةٍ يجعل بها الناس والأشياء في دائرة القداسة. سرق العملاق ثيرم المطرقة ذات مرة، وطلب يد فرَيَا لِعَتْقِه، إلا أنّها رفضت، فتنكّر [[ثور (ميثولوجيا)|ثور]] بهيئة فرَيَا، لينجح في استرجاع مطرقته من ثيرم، فأُعلن رسميًا بزواج ثيرم من فرَيَا (والذي هو ثور المتنكّر). وبعدئذٍ، قتل ثور العملاقَ ثيرم بالمطرقة وكذلك باقي [[يوتون|العمالقة]].
