(1960)</ref> وحيوانات التينامو عبارة عن سبعة وأربعين نوعًا من الكائنات الحية، في حين أن الكيوي تضم خمسة أنواع (Apteryx) وcassowaries (Casuarius) وهي ثلاثة أنواع وemu (Dromaius) وهي تضم كائنًا واحدًا حيًا وآخر انقرض قريبًا، والريا وهي نوعان و[[النعام]] التي تحتوي على نوع حي واحد.<ref name="Clements">Clements, J. وتعد مجموعات Lithornithiformes وDinornithiformes (moa) وAepyornithiformes (طيور الفيل) من المجموعات المنقرضة. وهناك طيور أخرى انقرضت تم دمجها مع Palaeognathae من خلال كاتب واحد على الأقل، إلا أن انتماءاتها تمثل مشكلة محل نزاع (Ambiornithiformes وGansuiformes وPaleocursornithiformes وGobipterygidae).
